When I met Anytria she had been unemployed for a month, facing possible eviction, had no car, no food, and no benefits. She was not connected to any community resources and although she had secured a new job, she was unable to get a ride to a location near University Drive for finger printing in order to move forward. Needless to say she was very discouraged, because she was only in the apartment through a rapid rehousing program and had already received 15 months of rental support from that organization after leaving the homeless shelter. We were able to help her practically, including transportation for finger printing, but also invited her to start the BLoved Mentoring program. When she first started attending BLoved she was convinced that God did not care about her because of all of the things she had suffered in her life. Satan’s primary strategy is to blame the Father for his dirty work. Her initial Soul Check Up scores (more on Soul Check Up) for her emotional and relational health resembled my original scores so I completely understood her inner struggle. I could assure her I knew how she felt, but it was all smoke and mirrors and if she would dare to believe the scriptures she would encounter Him. It has been beautiful to watch her grow. She now has a devotion score that is 3 times higher than when we started and her adverse emotional and relational health scores are down by more than half. She is taking care of her business, has secured employment with a reliable wage and is working on growing her stability and security for her family as she continues to trust in Him and His plans for her life.
